Lido Green

One Room Challenge Week 2: Paint dilemma, etc.

It's been a fairly productive week for the One Room Challenge – the six week event hosted by Calling It Home where bloggers and designers transform a room. I'll admit I chose a room that doesn't require a whole lot of manual labor. Outside of the items I have to purchase for the room, the only big task is painting... um and a quilt wallhanging (sorry, mom). So, this week was mainly prep, selecting paint and a few purchases. Nothing too exciting but I do need your help so keep reading!

For prep, Henry and I taped off the trim and ceiling with the best tape ever and dusted the walls a little – this room has not been used in almost two years. We don't have to paint the ceiling (hallelujah) so that's one less task. Once the room was taped, I spackled the heck out of it and sanded. And spackled and sanded. So many holes.

For paint, I want to go with a minty green. I pulled all of my greens from my collection of paint chips and landed on Baby Green and Lido Green both by Benjamin Moore. Baby Green is more of a true mint green while Lido is still minty but has a little more earthiness to it. I'm on the fence. I like the brightness of Baby Green but I almost feel like it's too baby-y – too predictably baby room. Lido feels a little more in line with the feel of our house which is a little more organic and boho with a modern lean. Buuuut, I might need some help here.

Here is a visual of Lido. I love it here it but doesn't represent the same in our room. In fact, Baby Green actually looks more like this in the space.

There are literally no images of Baby Green. How is it possible that no blogger has used this color before and shared a photo or two? Maybe that's a sign? Anyway, here are the two side by side. The one on the left is Baby Green, the one on the right is Lido. I put the art pic up to it to see what would work better. Lido is the clear matching winner here but do I care about matching that closely? Not really. I do like the brightness of the other. Ughhhh - send help. This is not an actual problem. I like both of them so I'll probably just let Mike decide. But if you happen to have a minty green that you're over the moon for, lemme know. TY.

On to shopping – that's the easy part. Since I put the design board together a while back, I have a list of everything I need. Here's a reminder of the room, if you missed it.

I have everything on the board (and then some ;)) with the exception of the crib, end table, sconces, and moon picture. Yes, we have a crib but since Henry chewed the living heck out of it, I'm getting a new one from Ikea but actually in white because of the changing table. For that, I have a mid-century dresser that I've been hoarding since I was single. It's walnut-y so I want the crib to contrast that.

Next up is painting and working with my mom on the quilt wallhanging. I've sketched out some designs and we're heading to a few quilt stores this weekend on the hunt for solid colored fabric... apparently not an easy find in the quilting world.

Thanks One Room Challenge for keeping me motivated. Seriously. I just realized today that this baby will be here in FOUR months. For some reason I keep thinking he's six months out and we have all the time in the world to spackle. This event couldn't have come at a better time and I can't wait to see how it all comes together! Thanks for reading and please continue to peruse the One Room Challenge link up for more design ideas.
